Turing Team ~ Remembrance Day Activities

As part of our Team Day activities in Turing, we have been combining the work of Pop Art with Remembrance activities for this time of the year.

Some children used fruit and vegetables to make poppy printing. These were in bright vibrant colours just like the Pop Art artists we had looked at. Other children designed “Pop Art Spitfires” adding vibrant colours to their work, making sure to use the colour wheels to find complimentary colours too.

Children in Turing team also had a chance to look at Pop Art lettering, often seen in the Marvel Comics too. We tried replicating this style, using remembrance words to add to this design.

A.C.E-I.T. ~ Celebration Assesmbly ~

This morning, children across the school joined together to celebrate

good learning across the year groups.

The new ACE – IT celebration of children’s achievements focuses on the 5 main themes of learning here at Holbrook & our Federated School, Bedenham.

~Enjoyment – Giving everything a go

~ Inclusion – Help everyone

~ Trust – Honesty & sharing

Children were awarded certificates for their hard work and learning in subjects, but also about their hard work around the curriculum. Some were commended for their hard work in teaching others, as well as stretching themselves further in their learning, being positive around the school and…

Children who were awarded the ACE-IT trophy can see this on display in the foyer when you come into the school… you never know, it might be you receiving this in the future… keep up the hard work!

William and Alisha spoke to the school about the success in the recent cricket tournament at Bedenham school, where one of our Holbrook teams managed to see off 8 TEAMS from Bedenham, to take victory, earning Holbrook a new trophy for the cabinet!
